Volunteers at AnMed

There are three different volunteer categories at AnMed -- high school students, college students, and adults.

Becoming an Adult Volunteer

We ask adult volunteers to commit to at least six months of regular service. Most volunteers serve for four hours once a week, but this varies depending on the area. When matching people with their assignments, we always consider availability and interests. We don’t accept court-ordered volunteers. We provide training and orientation to all volunteers.

Adult Volunteer Opportunities

Depending on the availability of positions, you may be able to help out in areas such as:

  • Cancer infusion center
  • Gift shop
  • Guest relations
  • Infection prevention
  • Procedure waiting areas
  • Symphony for the Soul (playing music in the Cancer Center)
  • Women’s and children’s services

Volunteer opportunities are available Monday through Friday in the morning and the afternoon. Limited opportunities are available in the evenings and on weekends. Explore the wide range of volunteer opportunities in Anderson by clicking here, or call 864-512-1263 to learn more.

Join Us

AnMed's goal is to provide excellent service to patients, visitors and each other. Volunteers play a large part in helping us achieve this goal.

AnMed Auxiliary

Volunteers are valued members of the AnMed Auxiliary, a not-for-profit organization. AnMed Auxiliary's purpose is to support and promote AnMed's mission to "passionately blend the art of caring with the science of medicine to optimize the health of our patients, staff and community."

AnMed Auxiliary accomplishes this goal through volunteers and the financial support of AnMed Foundation. AnMed Auxiliary raises funds by operating AnMed’s gift shops and fundraising events. In addition, AnMed Auxiliary provided financial support for the following:

  • Simulation lab for MUSC AnMed medical student education
  • New recliners for patient rooms
  • Patient transport chairs for outpatient surgery
  • Equipment for pediatric therapy
  • College scholarships for students pursuing health careers
