What is Infusion Therapy?

Infusion delivers medicine, blood products, fluids, nutrition or other therapies directly into the bloodstream.

If you need several treatment sessions, we may place a catheter (a small, thin tube) in your upper arm and thread it all the way up to a large vein near the heart. Called a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC), this line can stay in place for several weeks and prevents a new needle stick each time you visit. Your nurse can place a PICC line at the Medical Infusion Center, so you don’t need to go to another facility.
