Medical infusion therapy is an efficient way to administer medications to patients who cannot be treated effectively with oral medications. The process delivers medicine, blood or blood products, fluids, nutrition or other targeted therapies directly into the bloodstream. Medical infusion therapy may be used to treat a variety of diagnoses, including dehydration; bacterial and viral infections; osteoporosis; blood disorders; and rheumatologic, neurologic and gastrointestinal disorders.
For patients who will need IV therapy for an extended period of time or who have been prescribed certain medications, a special catheter may be placed. Our certified nurses are specially trained to place these catheters — called a peripherally inserted central catheter or PICC line — right on site, preventing a separate outpatient visit at another location.
At AnMed Health, medical infusion services are provided in the Medical Infusion Center on the first floor of AnMed Health Cancer Center. The facility offers warmth and privacy to patients, a soothing environment for reflection, time visiting with family or listening to music during treatment. A healing garden and waterfall outside the windows of the treatment area offer a peaceful view. The clinic is staffed by nurses, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who have many combined years of experience.
Medical infusion services are available 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Through a partnership with Carolinas HealthCare System Levine Cancer Institute, an emerging leader in cancer care, AnMed Health has expanded its oncology infusion center. Outpatient chemotherapy infusion has moved to the third floor of AnMed Health Cancer Center, while medical infusion services remain on the first floor. We know you have a choice in where to have your infusion treatments and we have worked hard to create the best environment for your care.
