One way cancer can be treated is with chemotherapy. Chemotherapy—often called “chemo”-- is the use of strong drugs to treat cancer. Doctors use certain types of drugs depending on the type of cancer you have and how much it has grown. Sometimes chemo is the only cancer treatment needed. It can also be used with other treatments, such as to shrink tumors before surgery or radiation. It may be used after surgery or radiation to help kill any cancer cells left, or it may be used if the cancer comes back.
At AnMed Health, infusion and chemotherapy services are provided in the Cancer Center's Infusion Center. The facility offers warmth and privacy to patients, and a soothing environment for visiting with family, listening to music or reflection during treatment. A healing garden outside the windows of the Infusion Center offers a peaceful view. The center is staffed by nurses trained in chemotherapy and infusion. Our pharmaceutical reimbursement coordinator can assist patients with financial counseling.
In addition to chemotherapy, the Infusion Center also provides outpatient procedures and blood product transfusion. The Infusion Center is open Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call (864) 512-4675.
