For many kids, summer camp is an adventure. But for a child with asthma, outdoor activities hold a hidden danger.
Asthma is the leading cause of chronic illness in children, affecting as many as 10 to 12 percent of kids in the United States. Pollen, mold spores and certain extreme climate conditions can set off asthma symptoms in sensitive children. Camp Asthmania gives children with asthma the chance to experience summer camp in a safe environment and provides an opportunity to them to recognize and control their asthma symptoms.
Over the years, hundreds of children have attended AnMed Health's Camp Asthmania and learned about ways to live—and play—despite their asthma.
Camp Asthmania 2017 will be held July 11 through 14 at North Pointe Elementary School
During camp, children ages 6 to 12 will participate in fun educational games while they learn how to keep their asthma under control. Campers may also experience day trips for activities such as swimming, bowling, a visit to the zoo, etc.
It's all FREE, but a registration application is required and space is limited. To register, please complete the registration application (PDF) by Thursday, June 1, 2017. For more information, call 864.512.6624.
