After hospitalization, patients continue their recovery in the cardiac rehabilitation program at LifeChoice. Under the watchful eye of registered nurses, exercise physiologists, fitness instructors and registered dietitians, patients take steps to return to a more active and healthy lifestyle.
LifeChoice is certified by American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The four-phase cardiac rehabilitation program offers exercise, stress management and nutritional counseling. Cardiac rehab is designed for men and women with coronary artery disease, those who have already suffered a heart attack or those who have undergone angioplasty or bypass surgery. The program is also a good fit for those who are at a high risk for developing heart disease.
Cardiac rehabilitation typically lasts 12 weeks, and requires a physician referral. LifeChoice also offers a Congestive Heart Failure Disease Management Program to help patients with chronic heart problems regain their independence and strength.
LifeChoice is located at 100 Healthy Way in Anderson inside the AnMed Health Cardiac and Orthopedic Center. The gym is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and can be reached at (864) 512-1505.
Managing cardiovascular disease is hard, and it requires lifestyle changes. The Electric City Cardiovascular Support Group is a great way to meet other men and women living with heart and vascular disease. The support group meets monthly at LifeChoice and is a free service of AnMed Health Heart and Vascular Care. The group is designed for individuals who are first-time stent patients and those who have had open-heart procedures. For more information, call Michael Gibson at (864) 716-6640.
