Patients at AnMed Health Heart and Vascular Center have access to hundreds of clinical trials. Our physicians participate in clinical trials for a number procedures, including:
- Carotid artery stenting
- Coronary stenting
- Heart valve surgery
- Pacemaker and defibrillator implants
- Cardiac ablation
- All types of vascular repair
Most recently, AnMed Health became the first hospital in South Carolina to participate in the ALERTS Clinical Study, a trial designed to test the effectiveness of the AngelMed Guardian System. The Guardian System includes a device that is implanted into a patient much like a pacemaker. But unlike a pacemaker, the device monitors the heart's electrical signal 24 hours a day, 7 days a week looking for changes that could indicate the heart is not getting enough oxygen. Through this monitoring, the system aims to detect heart attacks that have no symptoms or symptoms that are not typical.
This is just one of many trials happening at AnMed Health. To learn more about heart and vascular research, call (864) 512-8734.
