Hip replacement surgery replaces the hip joint with an artificial device to eliminate pain and restore joint movement. AnMed Health offers a minimally-invasive option called anterior hip replacement. This technique lets surgeons reach the hip joint from the front instead of the back or side, so there's no need to detach muscle from the pelvis or thigh during surgery. The surgeon simply works between the muscles. The gluteal muscles — the most important ones for hip function — are not affected and therefore don't require healing after surgery. Patients who are eligible for this technique typically experience less pain, less scarring and a quicker recovery.
Education is important for a successful joint replacement. AnMed Health Total Joint Academy blends education with group exercise and therapy to help total joint replacement patients make a speedier recovery. Our highly trained staff is dedicated to getting you back to your active lifestyle promptly with rehabilitation.
In 2014, AnMed Health received the South Carolina Hospital Association's "Certified Zero Harm Award" in hip surgery to recognize excellent performance in patient safety. Certified Zero Harm Awards are given when a hospital records no preventable hospital-acquired infections of a specific nature during a certain period of time. The award is part of the association's efforts to guide and support the state’s hospitals in creating and sustaining highly reliable health care – meaning patient care that is dependable, high quality and safe over a long period of time.
AnMed Health is designated as a Blue Distinction® Center for Knee and Hip Replacement by BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.
